Welcome! We're so delighted that you have decided to join The Church of the River. After you complete this form, our Administrator will be in touch with more information.

From our bylaws:

Anyone sixteen years of age or older who is in sympathy with the purpose of this church shall become a member upon (a) signing the Membership Book or other designated document with approval of or in the presence of the minister or a person or persons designated by the Board of Trustees, and (b) making within the next ninety days, or having made within the preceding twelve months, a financial contribution of record toward the support of the church (the contribution may be of any size and may come either from the new member or their immediate family members living in the same household). Ninety days after both conditions have been met, the new member shall be entitled to vote at Congregational Meetings, serve in lay leadership positions, and be eligible for all Privileges of Membership. Early membership shall be extended to persons fourteen to fifteen years of age who meet the above requirements and also complete the Coming of Age program or minister-approved equivalent; they may serve in Ministry or other lay leadership positions and will be entitled to vote at congregational meetings to the extent permitted by state and federal laws.

Online members must attend church in person to serve in leadership positions or on committees, and to vote at Congregational Meetings.


Please complete and submit this form, and then sign the Membership Book the next time you are at church. If you are unable to regularly come to church in-person for any reason, health or otherwise, we will have the Minister or a Board member sign your name to the Membership Book (signature by proxy).

Regarding financial contributions, we ask that each member donate to the church at a level that is comfortable for you. We have our Annual Canvass (Pledge Campaign) in the fall, when we ask members to pledge an amount to the church for the following year. This allows us to create a financial budget for the year and to continue the work and mission of our church. It is not necessary to pledge, but a financial contribution in the preceding 12-month period is required to retain membership in the church, though waivers for financial hardship may be granted by the minister.
